Bayern Munich director addresses midfielder’s future amid Real Madrid links – ‘Cannot wait forever’ | OneFootball

Bayern Munich recently tied down Alphonso Davies to a new contract, ensuring that the Canadian does not sign for Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer.

However, another of their key player, Joshua Kimmich, also has a contract that expires on June 30, 2025, and has been strongly linked with Real Madrid.

Indeed, reports from Germany have suggested that there have been contacts between the 29-year-old and Los Blancos.

Kimmich’s contract situation still not resolved

Despite Bayern Munich’s efforts to tie down the German international to a new contract, he continues to deliberate over his future.

Initially, the Bavarians were hoping to get some clarity on the matter by January but that has not been the case.

As such, director Max Eberl has claimed that the club cannot wait forever for his decision, but are prepared to give the mainstay some time to deliberate.

“Of course, we know we cannot wait forever, but we want to give Joshua some time and allow him to fully consider whether Bayern is the club he wants to continue with,” said Eberl, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“I do not want to have to convince a player to sign a contract; I want him to do so with full conviction,” Eberl added.

Despite the links emanating from Germany, sources from within Spain have suggested that Real Madrid are not interested in signing Kimmich and have also informed Bayern Munich that there has been no contact between them and the player’s camp, contrary to reports.

It remains to be seen whether that stance changes if Kimmich decides not to renew his contract, given that Real Madrid could use a player of his quality.
