Bild reports that the injuries Bayern Munich duo Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano picked up on international duty are worse than first thought.
Davies suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the third-place playoff in the CONCACAF Nations League game between the USA and Canada on Sunday. The original expected time Davies would spend on the sidelines was said to be around six months. However, the left-back is said to have also suffered damage to the cartilage in his knee.
The 24-year-old is expected to be out for at least six months, but due to this setback, it could be as long as eight months. Luckily, Davies has already had surgery, and he will begin to work on his comeback.
Upamecano’s absence is due to loose joints in his knee. The Frenchman was expected to be out for six weeks, but it is likely to be longer. Further tests revealed that the 26-year-old needed surgery on his knee, and he is now expected to be out for the next three months, which practically ends his season. Sky Germany reports that there is hope within Bayern that Upamecano could be available for the Champions League final, if Bayern make it that far.
