As reported by Philipp Kessler and Torben Hoffmann, Bayern Munich is facing fresh injury concerns and hopeful comebacks ahead of their game against VfB Stuttgart on Friday evening.
A win for Bayern would put them 11 points clear before anyone else plays this weekend. It would also put pressure on chasers Bayer Leverkusen, who face a tricky game away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday evening.
However, ahead of Friday’s game, head coach Vincent Kompany has announced fresh injury setbacks for a few of his players.
It was originally stated that Aleksander Pavlović was available for selection; however, the youngster is now ruled out of the game as he’s suffering from the flu.
In addition to this, Sacha Boey is also unavilable for the same reason.
Despite this, there is also room to be optimistic in the Bayern camp.
Both Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae want to play against Stuttgart despite their back and Achilles problems, respectively. The duo believes they are fit enough to play and would then likely be rested in the following game against VfL Bochum.
The defenders will have to undergo late fitness tests before a call is made. Should both players be fit enough to play, it would be a huge boost for Bayern.
