There is a range of senior players who will see their contract at Ewood Park expire this summer

Blackburn Rovers have nine first-team players who are set to be out of contract at Ewood Park at the end of this season.

Some of those have key roles in the squad, while others have been more bit-part players, so the club will likely have some contrasting decisions to make over those individuals.

Here, we've taken a look at how things might play out in terms of that decision-making, with all nine of those players who are due to see their deals with the Lancashire club expire next summer.

Dom Hyam

While his contract is currently set to come to an end next summer, Blackburn reportedly have the option to extend Dom Hyam's contract by another year at that point.

It would be a surprise if they did not do that, given he has been one of their first-choice centre-backs ever since he arrived from Coventry City in the 2022 summer transfer window.

Indeed, after a tough campaign last season, Hyam has looked more like his best during the current campaign, so they will not want to lose him, and talks over a longer-term deal would make sense.

Ryan Hedges

While Ryan Hedges is due to see his contract at Ewood Park expire in the summer, Rovers do have the option to extend his deal by another 12 months too.

But although the winger has been known to produce moments of top quality throughout his Blackburn career, he has arguably not shown an end product on a consistent enough basis.

He has also been hampered by injuries at times since moving to Ewood Park, so this could be a tougher call for the club to make.

Tyrhys Dolan

Rovers triggered their 12-month option in the contract of Tyrhys Dolan this summer, meaning they will not be able to do that this season.

Even so, it was reportedly agreed during the summer that he would remain at the club for the 2024/25 campaign, where he has been a regular and influential presence under John Eustace.

Head of Football Operations Rudy Gestede has called a new deal for Dolan a priority, although no progress has seemingly been made, so more talks are surely on the agenda for the near future.

Arnor Sigurdsson

Arnor Sigurdsson made his temporary move to Blackburn permanent in December last year, on an 18-month contract until the end of this season.

The current campaign has been a tough one for the Iceland international winger, who has made just a handful of appearances, mostly off the bench.

That may suggest he is one they would be willing to let go when his deal expires, and could potentially even cash in on come January amid reported interest from Championship rivals QPR, as well as Greek outfit PAOK Salonika.

Danny Batth

Danny Batth joined Blackburn on a free transfer in the summer after leaving Norwich, signing a one-year contract at Ewood Park.

There will be a decision to be made on him in the summer, and there has been both some excellent and below-par performances from the 34-year-old since he arrived - a real mixed bag.

With Hayden Carter facing several months out, Batth could now be set for a run in the side that may determine whether or not he is offered a new deal in Lancashire come the summer.

Andi Weimann

Andi Weimann was another who joined Blackburn for free in the summer on a one-year deal, following his departure from Bristol City.

The attacker scored three times - including an unforgettable strike in the draw at local rivals Burnley - in August, but since then his impact does seem to have been reduced.

He has already suggested he would like to stay at Ewood Park beyond the end of this season, although that may be decided by the 33-year-old's form over the coming months.

Kyle McFadzean

Having greatly impressed after joining from Coventry in January, the move to extend Kyle McFadzean's contract until the end of this season in the summer was a popular one at Rovers.

However, the 37-year-old has yet to make a league appearance this season, with his only outings so far coming in the Carabao Cup in August.

As a result, both there may be a tough decision to make on his future come the summer, and with his influence behind the scenes being praised, a move into coaching is worth considering.

Jack Vale

After a prolific spell in the academy, Jack Vale struggled for an impact after making the step-up to senior level with Blackburn, having several spells out on loan elsewhere.

He rejoined Motherwell for a second stint with the Scottish side this summer, but has already returned to his parent club due to injury, where his contract is due to expire next summer.

While Rovers have the option to extend that by 12 more months, the striker's struggles at senior level mean it feels as though it may be something of a surprise if they do that.

Dilan Markanday

Signed from Tottenham in January 2022, Dilan Markanday is yet to establish himself at Blackburn, leading to several spells out on loan elsewhere.

He is currently thriving in League Two with Chesterfield, which will give Rovers a decision to make when his contract at Ewood Park expires this summer.

They have the option to extend that deal by another year, and if he continues to succeed with Chesterfield, they may take that up, either to use him themselves, or cash in on his good form.
