It seems AC Milan may have quite a challenge on their hands when they face Bologna, with a director of the club admitting it is their focus.
The Coppa Italia final sits as a last resort for Milan. A final chance to make a season of wrongs somewhat alright. Of course, frustrations will be maintained, and even winning the competition will have a bittersweet feeling to it. However, the Rossoneri can only affect the future.
So, they have to attack the Coppa Italia with everything, to build confidence for next season, build the budget for the year and above all, build that trust again that this team have Milanese DNA within it. A squad that fights for the badge, for the colours, for the fans.
Doing so would go a significant way ahead of the new campaign, especially if they can beat a Bologna side who have become a fairytale in recent years.
Today, Claudio Fenucci, the club’s managing director, spoke to Rai Radio 1 about the next chapter of the fairytale, and he admitted that the Champions League was not it, as Milan News relay.
Is it better to win the Coppa Italia or return to the Champions League?
“To reach the Coppa Italia final was a great achievement. Playing the final at the Olimpico is a dream. For Bologna, it has a special value, they won the last Scudetto there. It is a dream that we will all live together.
“The answer is obvious: if one had to choose, we would prefer to bring home the Coppa Italia. But we will think about that in the week of 14 May. Today, the focus is on Udine.”
