According to Patrick Berger, Borussia Dortmund are unwilling to meet Chelsea’s demands for left-back Renato Veiga.
It has previously been reported that BvB have agreed on personal terms with the Portuguese defender but were yet to strike a deal with the Premier League outfit.
However, as of yet, the two sides have been unable to come closer to finalising a deal for the former Augsburg loanee.
Chelsea remain hopeful of permanently offloading the 21-year-old this winter and value Veiga between €20-24 million.
Nevertheless, due to Dortmund’s tight budget, a loan with the option to purchase Veiga at the end of the season would be considered a far more suitable option.
This is a deal Chelsea are currently not interested in agreeing on, and while they would look to allow the Portuguese international to depart on loan, they would want any move to include an obligation to buy.
This has left Die Schwarzgelben’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, in a difficult negotiating position, but talks for Veiga’s signature remain ongoing.
