Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly looking for a right-footed central defender and have zeroed in on one player, though there’s a major obstacle standing in the way of any potential deal.
Illia Zabarnyi has been a standout performer for Bournemouth this season, and his impressive form has caught the attention of several clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
According to CaughtOffside, despite Zabarnyi recently signing a contract with Bournemouth that keeps him at the club until 2029, they are open to offers of around £50 million for the defender. The report also mentions that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are set to compete for Zabarnyi’s signature.

L’Équipe recently reported that initial talks have taken place between PSG and the Ukrainian international, who has earned 45 caps. However, a potential transfer could face significant challenges because of the presence of Russian goalkeeper Matvei Safonov in PSG’s squad.
Former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that a deal for Zabarnyi could even happen in January given the level of interest in his signature.
“If they get a really huge offer I think they’ll let him go,” Brown told Football Insider. “With teams like Man City and PSG interested, you know there’s going to be big money on the table.
“City have been looking to add quality to their defense, he’s young and he has experience at the top level as well, so he definitely fits their profile. He’s been really impressive so far this season, which is why he’s attracting this interest.
“Bournemouth have some very interesting younger players, like Zabarnyi, who could be long-term targets for a lot of the top teams.”
