Bruno Fernandes “wants to stay” at Manchester United, manager Ruben Amorim thinks, amid reports linking him with a transfer to Saudi Arabia.

However, the Portuguese tactician admitted he doesn’t know “for sure” if his compatriot will be at Old Trafford next season.

Fernandes has consistently been United‘s best performer since joining the club from Sporting Club in January 2020, registering 182 goal involvements in 290 appearances across all competitions.

Here’s everything we know so far about a potential summer move.

Which clubs are interested in signing Bruno Fernandes?

Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal are said to be willing to pay a £100 million transfer fee to prise the midfielder away from United. It’s also claimed they are offering the player a salary package worth up to £65m.

The Daily Mail reported that Fernandes’ agent held face-to-face talks with Al Hilal at a hotel in Riyadh over a deal for the player.

The BBC claim that Fernandes is giving “serious consideration” to a possible move following a lucrative offer.

What is Man Utd’s stance on a transfer?

United are reportedly unwilling to lose their captain and star player ahead of next season, particularly given their need to bounce back from such a poor campaign on the pitch. However, they may be tempted into doing a deal in order to keep within financial limits set by the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Rules and fund a squad rebuild.

What Bruno Fernandes has said

Speaking on his future after the Europa League final, Fernandes intimated that he wished to remain at United, but accepted that the club may want to cash in on him.

“I have always been honest. I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go.

“I’m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club the great days. In the day that the club thinks that I’m too much or it’s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I’ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way.

“If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it’s what it is, and football sometimes is like this.”

What Ruben Amorim has said

“I don’t think so,” answered Amorim when asked if Fernandes had played his last game for for Man Utd.

“I don’t know for sure, nobody knows, but I don’t think so. I think he is seeing us taking some actions to change all the things and I think that is all that he asked. I think he wants to stay.

“He’s saying no to a lot of things, but it shows that he wants to win and I think he’s really young, he’s really good. He needs to be in the best league in the world.”
