As we enter the final week of the 2024/25 La Liga season, there is ongoing confusion in regarding the scheduling of the Sevilla vs Real Madrid fixture at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, part of the penultimate round of the domestic championship.

Real Madrid, who are set to finish the season as runners-up after FC Barcelona were crowned champions last night, were initially scheduled to face Sevilla on Sunday, 18 May, at 19:00 (CET).

All games on Matchday 37, involving each of the 20 teams, were scheduled to kick off simultaneously on Sunday at 19:00.

However, since Real Madrid are no longer in contention for the league title and Sevilla have already secured safety from relegation, La Liga decided to move the match to Monday, 19 May, at 20:00 (CET).

Minutes after that announcement, however, a potential reversal of the decision emerged, indicating that the match could be moved back to Sunday.

The exact kick-off time remains unconfirmed, although The Athletic states that it will go ahead as originally planned at 19:00 (CET).

If that is indeed the case, La Liga deciding to move it to Monday only to reschedule it back to its original date and time was absolutely unnecessary and caused confusion and chaos.

So, as things stand, the game will go ahead on Sunday, with Real Madrid travelling to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, hoping to secure a victory in the penultimate game of the season.

Los Blancos will then play Real Sociedad in their last match of the campaign on May 25, which will also serve as the farewell for manager Carlo Ancelotti who is set to leave for Brazil.
