One Chelsea journalist has provided an update on one key defender whose presence has certainly been missed a lot since he got injured.
It’s been a strange January for Chelsea. They really went off the boil in terms of on the pitch performances and results since they actually had a really good chance to go top right before Christmas. It’s all been downhill from there really, and not just on the pitch.
In the transfer window the club really didn’t do much at all when they should have been looking to strengthen their squad.
Chelsea had a pretty quiet transfer window in the winter despite people like Romano and others telling us that it was going to be very busy! It was the opposite from busy in the end. Other than some dry loan deals done for players such as Ben Chilwell, who joined Crystal Palace on deadline day in the end, and Axel Disasi, who also went to another Premier League side in the shape of Champions League chasing Aston Villa, there really wasn’t much more than happened, especially in terms of new arrivals which the squad actually needed.
But back to on the pitch stuff now, and Wesley Fofana has been injured for a chunk of time for the second season running and to be honest, his presence on the pitch has truly been missed.

Football London have the latest updates on Fofana’s return from injury progress, and it’s quite positive I guess.
They report that Wesley Fofana has been doing some individual work at Cobham in recent weeks. There will be no rushing the Frenchman back to action with the club eager not to aggravate any muscular problem.
Sounds like we need to be extra cautious but this is good on the whole.
