Chelsea linked with striker who flopped in last major move as cheap Jackson backup

We all know Chelsea want to sign a striker this summer, but it’s still not clear which direction they will go with their move.
Two years ago they signed Nicolas Jackson for a pretty low fee – a raw talent but not an elite established star.
Last summer they spent a lot of time chasing Victor Osimhen, before deciding he was too expensive. That left them really short up front, and the last two months have been difficult for manager Enzo Maresca following Jackson’s injury.
So this summer, will they finally land an expensive, elite forward, or will they go bargain hunting once again? A report from CaughtOffside today hints at the latter. Randal Kolo Muani is on loan at Juventus after flopping at PSG, and looks to be on the market this summer.
The 26 year old is not going to be cheap, per se, but should be affordable compared to someone like Benjamin Sesko or Osimhen. His wages should be reasonable too.

We won’t be the only people interested in Kolo Muani should he be put up for sale, however we’re a big team who can offer him significant minutes.
He’s not the cleanest technically, but he’s rapid and hard working and can be ruthlessly effective, as his goal record shows. There is a reason that PSG were happy to pay monster money for him not too long ago.
It’s easy to see him being a good alternative to Jackson, or a player who can be really effective playing in a front two with him, with one dropping out wide to support the other.
Jackson should be back from injury for our next game, but that shouldn’t distract us from the fact that a backup is very much needed in the summer.
