Federico Chiesa seeks more playing time at Liverpool in 2025 amid Napoli transfer rumours, while Reds coach Arne Slot says Mohamed Salah has had an ‘advantage’ because the Italian ‘is not always available.’
Chiesa joined the Reds from Juventus last summer and has played only 123 minutes since then. Following his return to action last month, he spent several games on the bench.
Chiesa’s last appearance in a Liverpool shirt dates to December 18 in a 2-1 EFL Cup victory against Southampton.
The former Juventus and Fiorentina star was an unused substitute in three of the last five Premier League games (against Fulham, Leicester City and Manchester United) and was not even in the squad against Tottenham and West Ham.

Liverpool will meet Tottenham again in the EFL Cup semifinal on Wednesday, and Slot mentioned Chiesa while discussing Mohamed Salah’s impressive form at Anfield.
“If you combine the goals of Lucho [Luis Diaz] and Cody when they play as a left winger, they come quite close to the numbers Mo has,” the Reds boss said at a press conference on Tuesday.
“Mo’s advantage is that because Federico [Chiesa] is not always available, he is playing from the first until the last minute.”
Chiesa will be fighting for playing time at Liverpool, but a recent report from FootMercato claimed that Napoli are in advanced talks to secure his signature on a six-month loan deal.
