With a combative attitude and without giving up, Guadalajara rowed against the current and achieved a crucial 2-1 win tonight against Pachuca, valid for Day 8 of the Clausura 2025 at the Akron Stadium. The Rojiblancos found themselves down early on and managed to overcome the deficit and held on to the result with one less player to reach 11 points in the tournament, which allowed them to climb up positions in the overall standings.
Despite being down on the scoreboard with a goal in the second half, Óscar García's team never gave up: they went for the game and reversed the situation in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, the team from Hidalgo wanted to tilt things in their favor, but Chivas' collective work in defense held the team together, even after Miguel Tapias was sent off for a double yellow card at 80'.
With their third win of the championship in the bag, Chivas must now visit the Alfonso Lastras Stadium to face Atlético San Luis on Wednesday, February 26, at 9:05 PM for Day 9 of the tournament.
The goals
-At 6', Arturo González appeared at the far post to finish off a cross from Idrissi, after a personal move.
-Guadalajara equalized! At 20', a great effort by Mateo Chávez resulted in a rebound that was left to Alan Pulido inside the area, who shot past Moreno to move the visitors' net. Although at first it was ruled offside, the VAR rectified the goal.
-Romo made his debut as a Rojiblanco! At 36', Luis Romo got in the way of Hugo Cambero's first-post shot, causing the Akron to explode when his deflection went into the back of the net.
Dangerous chances
-At just 2', 'Guti's' header from a corner kick lifted the ChivaHermanos off their seats, although it went just wide of the Tuzos' goal.
Towards the end of the first half, 'Piojo' recovered in the midfield and broke away at speed to the left, where he shot a cross-shot, but Moreno made a save.
