Manchester United winger Antony could put his Old Trafford on halt to embark on loan experience at Real Betis.

The 24-year-old has been plying his trade in Carrington since making the transfer from Ajax for a whopping £86 million back in the summer of 2022. The Brazilian arrived with great fanfare, as the Red Devils faithful had high hopes following his prosperous collaboration with Erik ten Hag in Amsterdam.

But aside from a few flashes of brilliance, the winger has never been able to rack up goal contributions on a consistent basis, proving to be more style than substance. With Ruben Amorim taking over from the sacked Ten Hag, Antony has been reduced to a benchwarmer, making way for Amad Diallo who made the right wing his in the manager’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Therefore, the former Ajax man has become surplus to requirement, but the management is hoping he could revitalise his playing career elsewhere, and Betis have emerged as his staunchest suitor. The Andalusians have been working on luring the player to Spanish soil, and have seemingly made a breakthrough in their talks with the Premier League giants.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Betis are closing in on an agreement with Man Utd to sign Antony on a dry loan until the end of the season.

Moreover, the Red Devils will be covering a part of the player’s salary, as the Spanish club cannot afford to match his €200,000 per week wages on their own.

Therefore, we can expect some positive developments on this front in the next few days. Man United will be hoping that Antony can find his feet again in LaLiga which would restore his status as an exciting winger and attract suitors in the summer.
