The Premier League have confirmed the list of match officials to oversee proceedings in the return of English top-flight action for Manchester City this week.

The club recorded a mammoth victory in their last outing on Saturday evening, dismissing of League Two side Salford City with ease in the third round of the FA Cup and putting eight goals without reply past the Greater Manchester outfit.

James McAtee was arguably the star of the show at the Etihad Stadium as the 22-year-old attacking midfielder put three goals past teenage goalkeeper Matty Young, while there were also strikes for Divin Mubama, Nico O’Reilly, and Jack Grealish on the night.

As for Thomas Frank’s side, they exited the FA Cup at the third round stage in shock fashion as the Championship’s bottom-ranked side Plymouth Argyle recorded a narrow 0-1 win at the Gtech Community Stadium in the post-Wayne Rooney era.

Ahead of the meeting between Brentford and Manchester City, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Gtech Community Stadium!

Match Referee

The Premier League have this week confirmed that experienced referee Anthony Taylor will take charge of proceedings between Brentford and Manchester City in West London on Tuesday night.

The 46-year-old, Manchester-born official has overseen 18 matches in the Premier League so far this season, and having come across the Premier League champions twice already during that time.

Overseeing proceedings in Manchester City’s 0-2 Premier League opener against Chelsea last August, Taylor also officiated the recent derby clash against rivals United from the Etihad Stadium in mid-December.

In total, Anthony Taylor has officiated 45 Manchester City matches across his professional refereeing career, with the Etihad club winning 25 of those meetings, drawing nine matches, and being on the losing end of 11.

In those 45 contests, Taylor has awarded nine penalty kicks, while there have also been four straight red cards and a total of 64 yellow cards in the process.

Assistant Referees

Offering support for Anthony Taylor in the roles of assistant referees for Brentford against Manchester City at the Gtech Community Stadium this week will be Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn.

Video Assistant Referees

As for those overseeing the match from the VAR Hub at Stockley Park, the Premier League have appointed Peter Bankes into the role of Video Assistant Referee, with Assistant Video Assistant Referee duties handed to Eddie Smart.

Fourth Official

In the role of fourth official and ensuring that all is kept in order between Thomas Frank and Pep Guardiola’s Brentford and Manchester City dugouts will be Will Finnie.
