Manchester City travel to Merseyside this weekend for their final visit to Goodison Park ahead of Everton’s switch over to Bramley-Moore Dock from next season.

It is the latest stern test of Pep Guardiola’s side as they continue their battle for UEFA Champions League football for next season, having been handed a much-needed boost of the Premier League having the top-five teams qualify for the competition.

Manchester City find themselves in somewhat of a resurgence in form and performance of late, recovering from a 0-2 deficit inside 21 minutes against Crystal Palace last time out to emerge as 5-2 victors and claim a much-needed three points.

Everton themselves secured a mammoth victory on the road last time out and handed Manchester City a boost of their own in the process, recording a 0-1 away win at Nottingham Forest – who continue to hold ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League.

Alongside Chelsea’s home draw against the relegation-threatened Ipswich Town, Manchester City ended the weekend within the top-five and closing the gap to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in particular ahead of the final six games of the English top-flight schedule.

Ahead of the meeting between Everton and Manchester City, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at Goodison Park!

Match Referee

Ahead of Everton against Manchester City at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon, the Premier League have confirmed that referee Simon Hooper has been appointed as the lead on-field match official for the contest.

This will be the 42-year-old’s 28th match officiated across all competitions so far this season, having appeared in other Premier League fixtures alongside commitments in the Championship, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.

Across the course of his 27 matches so far this campaign, Hooper has a record of handing out 123 yellow cards, with a further caution being a second for the same player and resulting in a dismissal. He has also issued one red card in the process and awarded four penalties.

Manchester City are yet to lose a single game when officiated by Simon Hooper across all competitions, winning eight and drawing six of the 14 matches taken charge of by the Wiltshire-born referee.

However, the last two matches involving Hooper and Manchester City have resulted in score draws via a 2-2 home clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, and a 1-1 meeting with Everton at the Etihad Stadium in the reverse fixture of this weekend’s contest.

City fans will also recall Hooper from his role as referee in a dramatic and controversial 3-3 home draw with Tottenham last season, in which Jack Grealish’s one-versus-one opportunity to win the game was pulled back for a free-kick despite initially playing an advantage.

Assistant Referees

Accompanying Simon Hooper on the field at Goodison Park this weekend will be an assistant referee pairing of Adrian Holmes and Simon Long, the Premier League have confirmed ahead of the fixture.

Video Assistant Referees

Overseeing proceedings from the VAR Hub at Stockley Park, the Premier League have appointed Darren England as the contest’s Video Assistant Referee, with Scott Ledger as the Assistant Video Assistant Referee.

Fourth Official

Standing between David Moyes and Pep Guardiola in their respective Everton and Manchester City dugouts at Goodison Park will be the appointed fourth official for the contest, Bobby Madley.
