Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Adam Wharton will miss both of Crystal Palace’s final two matches of the season, with Marc Guehi also set to sit out against Wolves.

Both players will report to Palace’s training ground on Monday afternoon but will not be involved in the session and will miss the match against Wolves at Selhurst Park due to injuries they suffered in Saturday’s FA Cup final.

The Eagles secured their first-ever piece of major silverware by beating Manchester City 1-0, but both Guehi and Wharton missed the club’s late-night celebrations in London as they underwent checks in hospital.

Both players passed initial concussion checks on the pitch but went off later in the second half at Wembley.

Guehi had suffered severe bruising after a shot hit his eye, impairing his vision, while Wharton felt unwell after originally playing on following a fierce shot from Kevin De Bruyne which struck the back of his head.

Both players were in hospital later on Saturday night but Glasner has now confirmed that neither sustained a serious injury.

“Adam and Marc will definitely miss tomorrow’s game,” the Crystal Palace boss said on Monday.

“Adam will also miss the Liverpool game [at Anfield on Sunday] as well. He had a concussion at the end. Marc, let’s see. Maybe [he can be available] for Liverpool. But both players will miss tomorrow’s game.”

Palace will get a heroes’ welcome at Selhurst Park for their first match since winning the FA Cup and Glasner opted not to give details over how many changes he will make to his starting lineup besides leaving out Guehi and Wharton.

He said: “Let’s see how the players present, but [the] number one [thing] is that we always want to play the best team. This will be the same tomorrow.

“Besides this, what we are all thinking is don’t take any risk of an injury. This is what we will see when the players come back after celebrating after a very intense game against City. Then we will find the right lineup for tomorrow.”
