DEADLINE set for Florian Wirtz's Liverpool decision | OneFootball

Liverpool are heavily interested in Florian Wirtz, a transfer saga that many expect will go on for the entire summer, although a time frame has been formally placed on the player's decision.

Negotiations will go down to the wire on both sides, but the player will have to make his mind up first.

Initially, the interest for the German playmaker this summer involves Bayern Munich and Manchester City, but seemingly out of nowhere, Liverpool burst onto the scene last week.

It has since been revealed that the Reds have been huge admirers of the 22-year-old for a number of years now, extending all the way back to before he become a professional senior player.

Any plausible deal will likely include a £125m transfer fee which is before wages, bonuses and agents fees are considered, making up a package that City feel is unaffordable in their circumstances.

Nonetheless, Liverpool and Bayern are still right in the hunt and the player has spent time at each club, speaking to each of the executives, and assessing the different projects that are being offered to him. All we can do now is wait for his decision, and a deadline now formally been put in place.

Ten days before we know Wirtz's decision

According to the German website Kicker, the player has all the information he needs to know. He now just needs a little bit of time to decide where he feels he would fit in best - at the Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich, or the Premier League winners Liverpool.

The report writes: "There was a meeting between Liverpool FC and the von Wirtz family last week after their England trip had been mistakenly associated with Manchester City.

"Liverpool FC is said to have been powerfully impressed by choosing the 22-year-old as the centre of a new team on Anfield Road. Just like FC Bayern, Liverpool will go to the limit with this transfer.

"At FC Bayern, it is assumed that the national player will decide between FC Liverpool and FC Bayern, in ten days at the latest this should have happened."

Two of Europe's powerhouses are interlocked and defiant in their approaches for Wirtz, all that matters now is the player's decision - to remain in Germany or explore English football.
