Tammy Abraham was the hero of the night for AC Milan as his goal deep in added time fired AC Milan to a comeback win in the Supercoppa Italiana final against Inter.
When Milan went 2-0 down after Mehdi Taremi’s goal early in the second half – which followed Lautaro Martinez’s late in the first half – you could be forgiven for presuming the trophy would be getting black and blue ribbons for a fourth straight year.
However, just like against Juventus on Friday night, the Rossoneri roared back when it mattered. Theo Hernandez halved the deficit with a free-kick, Christian Pulisic fired in the leveller and then Abraham was on hand to tap-in from Rafael Leao’s cut-back in the third minute of added time.
The result is that Milan have not only won two derbies in a row and have ended their rivals’ Supercoppa streak, but they also lifted their 50th trophy in the process.
Abraham spoke to SportMediaset just moments after the trophy lifting and also the presentation of the Man of the Match award, which he won. His comments were relayed by MilanNews.
