Although Feyenoord and Dennis te Kloese are currently said to be having ‘good’ talks with Quinten Timber’s entourage regarding a new contract, the captain’s future in Rotterdam is still uncertain.
Timber is out of action for the rest of this season due to a knee injury that he picked up against AC Milan in the Champions League in February. Due to this injury, Feyenoord, which has been in talks with the midfielder’s camp for some time, is faced with ‘a difficult issue’.
According to Voetbal International, there are two possible options: extend or sell. “The latter is inevitable if the captain does not extend his contract; leaving on a free transfer in the summer of 2026 is not an option. But then again, selling depends on the player’s fitness.”
An extra year in De Kuip may give him the time to once again attract the attention of top European clubs, according to VI. “The Timber camp may think rationally, but the midfielder himself knows that he has been followed by a large number of clubs.”
According to Te Kloese, Feyenoord are currently ‘having conversations in a good atmosphere’. “Quinten is a mature boy with whom we have built a very good relationship”, the general and technical director of the Rotterdam team said. “He is also such a good player that the transfer will happen one day anyway.”
