Director hints that Dybala’s Roma future also depends on new coach | OneFootball

Roma director Federico Balzaretti provides an update on Paulo Dybala’s future, suggesting it also depends on the Giallorossi’s new coach.

New Roma Loan Manager Balzaretti, a former club defender, suggests that Dybala’s future in the capital depends on the team’s head coach in 2025-26.

The striker’s agent met Galatasaray directors last week as Dybala’s contract runs out in June 2025.

However, the Argentinean’s deal at the Olimpico will be automatically extended to 2026 if he completes six more appearances this season, playing at least 45 minutes in each game.

“Dybala is the best left-footed player in Serie A, and his value is unique and extraordinary,” Balzaretti told DAZN via Romanews.

“It’s very rare to find players with this quality. If a decision has to be made considering his impact on the team, then there are no doubts. We also need to understand who the new coach will be. Roma still have important targets to play for.”

Claudio Ranieri had claimed last week that Dybala could leave if he had “other priorities”, but the Italian tactician clarified on Sunday, after seeing La Joya score a brace and deliver an assist against Parma, that the striker was happy in the capital.

Ranieri will remain in charge of Roma until the end of the season but will have an input in the decision for the new coach in 2025-26, who Roma want to appoint quickly.
