Ever since Amo-Ameyaw waved goodbye, Southampton has seen a significant decline in their talent department. Still, they may not need to look further than Jay Robinson to address those worries.

In recent days, Southampton have been hit with a sense of regret over Amo-Ameyaw's departure. For a large chunk of the campaign, the club remained heavily invested in the winger's talent but a tempting January offer made them revoke their earlier commitment.

While the Saints may find positives in receiving a satisfactory paycheck, the thought of getting an even bigger one in the future will still remain with them. On top of that, they let a versatile wonderkid slip from their hands in the name of swift decision-making.

Honestly, nothing can be done about the former but amends can still be made for the latter.

If you didn't quite get it, here's the catch. What if Southampton discover their new attacking gem and try to fulfil their Amo-Ameyaw goals with him?

Jay Robinson believes he can replace Amo-Ameyaw

In this respect, the frontrunner to bridge that ambition gap is U18's prolific goalscorer Jay Robinson. Now, call it fate or luck but Robinson is also inclined to be the club's next success story.

Talking to the Daily Echo, Robinson weighed his golden prospect at hand: "Yeah, I think definitely there's opportunities there when players leave the club. I think it's an opportunity for me."

Well, making a name in the Premier League is never easy but a confidence like this does make the task relatively easier. Further, the striker is more physically dominating than Amo-Ameyaw which can help him remain selection ready for most matches.

Then, it ultimately boils down to finding the back of the net regularly. If he manages to do that, Robinson can expect a longer St. Mary's stay than most of his young teammates.
