Everton are considering sending Armando Broja back to Chelsea with the possibility of a midfielder taking his place according to reports.

The Blues sent Broja on a season loan to Goodison Park in the summer, but it’s safe to say the move has been a complete disaster to date.

The Albania international arrived with fitness issues and has only played 179 minutes of football for the Toffees so far this campaign.

Everton consider sending Broja back to Chelsea

Broja’s bad luck continued in Everton’s FA Cup win against Peterborough as he picked up an ankle injury which is likely to rule him out for at least three months.

The 23-year-old has been plagued with injury issues since suffering an ACL injury during the 2022/2023 campaign, with his time on the pitch severely limited.

Everton are now in a situation where they need to weigh up what to do with Broja as he’s likely to miss the majority of the second half of the campaign.

Mail Sport have reported Everton’s recruitment team have been considering different options if they were to send Broja back to Stamford Bridge.

The report adds if Broja goes back Everton would be interested in either Carney Chukwuemeka or Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Chuwkuemeka hasn’t played a single minute in the league this season, although he’s been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea need to get the midfielder playing regularly if they are to stand any chance of getting his £40m release clause in the summer.

Dewsbury-Hall started his first Premier League game of the season against Wolves on Monday night, although given the lack of depth in midfield currently it wouldn’t be wise for the Blues to sanction an exit for the 26-year-old.

The best solution would seemingly be to send Broja back in exchange for Chukwuemeka so he can start playing regular football and in the Premier Leauge, which will likely attract more suitors.
