This summer will likely see a host of players leave Manchester City. With the current Premier League champions set to continue their rebuild, they will have to sell players to make room for new arrivals. A host of players have been linked with a move away from the club in a few months. Now esteemedkompany.com has learned that Kalvin Phillips is set to leave the club in the summer. That isn’t a major surprise, but it does appear that based on the information received from Esteemed Kompany sources, a permanent move for Phillips is a realistic possibility.
It is understood that Manchester City are prepared to sell Kalvin Phillips for between €25-30 million this summer. Furthermore, sources indicate that Phillips isn’t a part of Manchester City’s future plans. It is understood that there are several clubs interested in signing the England international. It has been revealed that Ipswich Town, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Everton and Leeds United are all interested in signing the midfielder. But it has also been revealed that Phillips is reluctant to stay at Ipswich Town if they are relegated from the Premier League this season. Ipswich Town are eager to retain the services of Phillips. The England international reportedly prefers staying in the Premier League over playing in the Championship.
If Manchester City can sell Kalvin Phillips this summer it would be the best move for both parties. Kalvin Phillips doesn’t have a role to play at Manchester City. He failed to establish himself in Pep Guardiola’s squad before moving on loan to West Ham for the second half of the 23/24 season. This season he has spent the entire campaign on loan at Ipswich Town. The England international has made 19 appearances for the Tractor Boys this campaign. He has shown that he can play in the Premier League and contribute when given an opportunity.
From a Manchester City point of view, if they could sell Phillips in the summer, it would be a win for the club. That way they could remove Phillips’ wages from their books. It would also see them not forced to secure Phillips another loan move for next season. It is unlikely that Phillips has a place in the Manchester City squad for next season and beyond. So if he is sold it would be a win for Manchester City.
It now appears that Kalvin Phillips will leave Manchester City in the summer. It appears to be a matter of where he will end up. Today’s news isn’t a surprise but it does seem that City could potentially sell a player who just didn’t quite make it at the world champions. That would be best for both parties if a permanent move for Kalvin Phillips does eventuate in the summer.
