The Blades took a big step towards a top two finish on Friday night with a comprehensive 3-1 win over an in-form Coventry City side.

Goals from Gustavo Hamer, Tyrese Campbell and Rhian Brewster gave Chris Wilder’s side an important three points, keeping them inside the top two regardless of the rest of the weekend’s results.

Ahmedhodzic has been a key figure for Sheffield United in their pursuit of Premier League football this year, playing 31 times from their 39 games so far.

Ex-Premier League midfielder Prutton, who leads Sky Sports' EFL coverage, has praised Ahmedhodzic’s performances in English football since arriving at Bramall Lane in 2022 from Malmo.

He believes the Bosnian has the traits to play Premier League football, and expects there to be a lot of transfer interest this summer if Sheffield United remain in the Championship.

“Anel another player I’m a big fan of at Sheffield United,” Prutton exclusively told Football League World.

“[They’re] looking on course for a return to the Premier League, as of this time of speaking, yes there’s games left and plenty of drama for the season to create.

“I think he’s been great since he’s come to English football.

“Jack Lester, former team-mate and very good friend of mine, spoke glowingly about his approach to his profession, about his status within the dressing room.

“Tough player, likes to get forward of course, athletic, sizeable physical specimen, deals with the different parts of the game really well, is a good ball carrier.

“Ticks a lot of boxes for a player that wants to see once again the bright lights of the Premier League.

“But sometimes the finances can tell, whether Sheffield United would, if they don’t go up, be in a position to sell, we shall soon see.

“And I presume, given how well Anel’s been, he’ll be one of the players that many teams will be coveting.”

Wolves were linked with a move for Ahmedhodzic prior to the January transfer window, but a deal never came to fruition.

Anel Ahmedhodzic is ready for the Premier League again - Sheffield United need to make sure they get back there

Ahmedhodzic has been a key part of the Sheffield United team this season, once again proving to be one of their top performers after forming a strong partnership with Harry Souttar at the back in the first half of the campaign.

If the Blades aren’t promoted, then it would come as no surprise to see multiple Premier League clubs take an interest in the Bosnian's signature.

Given he only has a contract until 2026, Sheffield United may still be vulnerable to interest even if they are promoted, should he not pen a new deal at the club - akin to when they lost Sander Berge and Iliman Ndiaye in the summer of 2023.

Tying him down to another deal will be a crucial step for the club once a top two finish is achieved, as they cannot risk losing him for a cut-rate price, or even for nothing, given his potential value.
