Flamengo have secured the future of Pablo Lúcio, one of the club’s brightest homegrown talents, by agreeing a new contract extension that keeps the young midfielder at the club until the end of 2030. The announcement came via Pablo Lúcio’s press team and was highlighted in a post shared by the player on his social media, featuring a photo of the 18-year-old alongside Flamengo’s football director José Boto.
Lúcio has been on Flamengo’s radar as a standout performer in the youth system—commonly referred to as the “Garotos do Ninho.” Having represented Brazil at various youth international levels, his progress in the Flamengo ranks culminated in a key role in the club’s successful 2024 Under-20 Copa Libertadores campaign.
This year, Lúcio was elevated to the professional squad for pre-season preparations in the United States and made his unofficial senior debut in a friendly against São Paulo. His performances, both in the pre-season and recently in the Campeonato Carioca, were well received among supporters and analysts, underlining his continued growth and the trust Flamengo have placed in his development.
The statement from Lúcio’s representatives acknowledged the club’s faith in the player, saying, "We thank Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and the player’s family for the trust.” Flamengo’s decision to tie Lúcio to the club with a contract running until 2030 signals long-term planning and a clear commitment to retaining and nurturing local talent at a time when European interest in emerging South American prospects remains strong.
Lúcio’s progress will be closely monitored as Flamengo compete on multiple fronts this season. For now, the midfielder’s renewal provides both the club and the player with stability and focus—allowing him to continue developing in an environment that has already yielded tangible success at youth level.
