Sacha Tavolieri understands that Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen regarding a move for Florian Wirtz (22). However, the player himself is unkeen on a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Bayer Leverkusen, who will also lose manager Xabi Alonso at the end of the season, are keen to sell Wirtz abroad, rather than to domestic rivals Bayern Munich, who are pushing hard for his signature. Manchester City are keen to conclude a deal for the Germany international. Tavolieri understands that a verbal agreement has even been reached between the two clubs.

But the deal could come unstuck on personal terms. Sports Zone understands that Wirtz is not convinced by the project at Manchester City. In an ideal world, the playmaker wants to join Bayern Munich, however, failing that, he would rather join Real Madrid over the Premier League side. There, he could link up with Alonso, who is expected to be named Real Madrid manager.
