Club Brugge have announced that Dedryck Boyata has left the club after both sides agreed to a contract termination. The sides have been in discussions over the situation involving Boyata at the club since the summer, with it clear that he was no longer part of head coach Nicky Hayen’s plans for the future. Boyata was one of the higher earners at the side and given he had not performed at the level close to what he was earning, Club have been trying to move him on for months.
Boyata is now free to find a new club. The former Celtic and Hertha Berlin defender only played 26 games for Club Brugge. There may well be sides in the Pro League looking for an experienced defender, yet few of these will be able to come close to matching his salary while at Club Brugge. Boyata will now have a decision to make as to whether he wants to play regular football at any cost.
