Real Madrid are bolstering their squad ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup and it is clear that Florentino Perez has it as a goal of his to make the club the first winner in the competition’s history.

On Friday, Los Blancos officially announced the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold as their new right-back and have already secured the services of Dean Huijsen who is seen as the long-term fix in central defence.

The focus now is on the midfield which will be weakened by Luka Modric’s departure and the club have several options in mind, one of which is Nico Paz.

The player’s doubts

As relayed earlier this month, Paz is widely seen as a player Xabi Alonso can utilise to the maximum if he is re-signed from Como, especially given the new manager’s track record of trusting young players.

El Larguero, however, bring to light that the Argentine starlet is not completely convinced by Real Madrid’s approach and has doubts about returning home immediately.

Paz, who Real Madrid can re-sign for just €8 million, does not know what his role in the team will be and fears returning to the same bench role he was playing before his departure.

On that front, he is even considering staying at Como for another year and gathering the experience he needs to fight at a club like Real Madrid.

The manager’s plan and ability to communicate his intentions to the player will thus be key in Paz’s situation for no one can convey the importance of his presence in the squad more than the manager himself. After all, Real Madrid could really use the depth in the department.

So far this season, the 20-year-old has started 30 games in the Serie A for Como and has a staggering 14 goal contributions to his name. He also averages 1.5 key passes per game and has created 11 big chances.
