Striker Marcus Thuram will miss next week’s Coppa Italia quarterfinal clash between Inter Milan and Lazio through injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram is currently on the sidelines with an ankle problem.

The 27-year-old sustained a blow to the ankle during a Serie A win over Fiorentina earlier this month.

While there was no serious underlying injury for Thuram, the Frenchman has still been feeling a fair bit of discomfort.

Thuram did manage to come off the bench against Juventus last weekend despite the knock.

However, Thuram did not look fully fit. There was an evident lack of sharpness and physicality to the Frenchman’s play.

The aim now is to try and get Thuram back to his absolute best for Inter’s match against Napoli next Saturday.

That match pits first against second in the Serie A table. There is a real sense that it could prove to be a title-decider.

Therefore, Thuram will be sitting out this evening’s league match against Genoa.

But not just that, reports the Gazzetta.

The 27-year-old former Borussia Monchengladbach will also be unavailable on Tuesday as Inter take on Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals.
