It has been a simply crazy day with regards to AC Milan transfer news, and the latest update relates to a bid for Theo Hernandez from a surprise club.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Como made ‘a huge offer for Theo Hernandez’ in the last few days, worth over €40m. The proposal was put forward but was not followed up due to the French player’s refusal to the destination but says a lot about Como’s ambitions.
The winter transfer window has already brought them Assane Diao, who immediately became a starter and scored against Milan. Maxence Caqueret also joined, as well as the goalkeeper Butez and perhaps the most fascinating signing, Dele Alli.
Thinking about signing Theo, however, marks a change of pace. The left-back is obviously having a difficult few weeks at Milan, with a performance that is not up to the level of previous seasons. Perhaps it is the wake of the European Championship, perhaps the complicated relationship with Paulo Fonseca.
After his terrible evening against Fiorentina earlier in the season – with the missed penalty and red card – it feels like Theo hasn’t been the same. The Supercoppa Italiana final in Riyadh against Inter showed what he can do though, and he remains only 27.
Theo also struggled against Dinamo Zagreb last night, even though he wasn’t the worst on the field. He returned to Italy last night with the team and in these two days he will have to prepare for the derby, a game that is always very important for him, all with a contract expiring in 2026.
