AC Milan had the opportunity to gain points on the teams above them, yet it was a familiar tale as they were held to a disappointing draw by Cagliari.

Many of you may remember earlier in the season when Paulo Fonseca declared after the 3-1 win away against Real Madrid in the Champions League that he was worried about going and winning at Cagliari on the following Saturday.

Well, in some ways history repeated itself last night. After returning home with the Supercoppa Italiana, the Rossoneri played the Sardinian side again, and they were again unable to hold onto a lead as they drew 1-1 last night.

La Gazzetta dello Sport’s player ratings

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has their ratings from the game, starting with the team’s overall performance which was a 5.5 out of 10. Sergio Conceicao got a 6 for his management of the game.

Alvaro Morata was the man of the match for Milan in the eyes of the paper as he scored the only goal for the home side, earning a 6.5. Tammy Abraham missed multiple big chances to win it so he got a 5.

A number of players performed below par, with Rafael Leao an Theo Hernandez getting a score of 5. Mike Maignan, Davide Calabria, Yunus Musah and Youssouf Fofana were given just half a mark more.

Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, Tijjani Reijnders and Alex Jimenez were awarded a passing grade of 6, while Christian Pulisic (6.5) joined Morata as the only player to get above that.
