Get him stripped!” – Rangers fans deliver brutal 95% vote against Tavernier as captain

It’s one of the most damning polls we’ve ever run—an astonishing 95% of Rangers fans have made their voices clear: it’s time for a new captain at Ibrox.
The poll, posted on our official social media, gave supporters just two simple options—Yes or No to the question: “Time for a new captain?” And the result couldn’t have been clearer.
James Tavernier, long-time skipper of the Light Blues, has faced mounting scrutiny over the past 12 months. While his numbers in attack continue to impress some, his leadership credentials have been questioned repeatedly in the wake of failed title challenges and meek showings in must-win matches.
This result follows similar sentiment in previous articles, including our brutal breakdown of Tavernier’s performance in big matches, and fan unrest voiced after the loss at Celtic Park. For many fans, that day sealed the deal—the captain’s armband no longer belongs on Tavernier’s arm.
What’s striking is not just that the majority want change—it’s the scale of it. This isn’t a 60/40 split or even 70/30. This is nearly unanimous. The Ibrox faithful have had enough, and they’re crying out for a fresh figurehead to lead this club forward.
John Souttar’s name is gaining traction, seen by many as a no-nonsense leader who doesn’t shy away from a challenge. Some fans are even holding out hope that one of the summer arrivals might bring a commanding presence capable of stepping straight into the armband.
As we previously explored, Tavernier’s legacy is now under review, and this poll just adds fuel to the fire.
Even sources outside the Rangers bubble are picking up on the unrest, with this recent piece confirming that change may indeed be on the cards.
Interim boss Barry Ferguson—who we all know is 99% unlikely to remain beyond this season—may not make the call, but the next manager will be under serious pressure to do so.
The fans have spoken—and they want a new captain. Full stop.
