Pep Guardiola's ninth season in charge at Manchester City saw us qualify for the Champions League for the 15th consecutive year.

Our men's team have played 57 matches across all competitions, leading to a third place finish in the Premier League as well as a third successive FA Cup final.

We began the season with silverware, beating Manchester United in the Community Shield but there was a fourth round exit in the Carabao Cup and a Round of 16 elimination from the Champions League.

While the last year hasn't matched the unprecedented heights of much of Guardiola's incredible time at the Etihad Stadium, the boss said on Sunday he is very proud of the way his players persevered.

The traditional season has now come to an end but with the FIFA Club World Cup just a couple of weeks away, there's still plenty to play for before the Premier League returns.

We'll all have our favourite players and performances from the campaign so far, but here we'll take a look at the players that stood out according to the stats...

Appearances

Etihad Player of the Season nominee Josko Gvardiol played more than anyone else this term, appearing in 53 of the 57 games Pep's side played.

That comprised of 4,513 minutes on the pitch and 37 games in the Premier League, all 10 in the Champions League, the last three rounds of the FA Cup, both Carabao Cup ties and the Community Shield.

With absences through injury a major concern for much of the season, Gvardiol's availability and versatility was a real asset and vital to helping Guardiola set up his side.

Ilkay Gundogan was the next most featured player, playing 50 times, with Bernardo Silva (49), Savinho and Phil Foden (both 45) rounding out the top five.

Goals

In his third season at City, Erling Haaland is again our top scorer. He scored 31 goals in 44 appearances.

In total, he now has 121 goals for the Club in just 142 games - meaning only 14 men have ever netted more for City than he has.

This season, 22 strikes came in the Premier League. That wasn't enough to earn him a third straight Golden Boot, leaving him behind Mo Salah and Alexander Isak in that running.

A further eight goals were scored in the Champions League and one in the FA Cup while he will be hoping to add more to his tally at this summer's expanded FIFA Club World Cup.

Phil Foden's 10 goals made him our second top scorer while Omar Marmoush was third with eight, despite only arriving in January.

James McAtee and Mateo Kovacic (seven each) round out the top five.

Assists

In his first season at City, Savinho has registered 10 assists - including eight in the Premier League.

Whether it's crosses from the left or the right or through sheer hard work to pressurise opponents, the Brazilian has established a strong foundation from which to push on from.

That tally puts him joint first for this stat with Matheus Nunes - performing most commonly in an auxiliary right-back role rather than his usual midfield slot.

Nunes' running power has been crucial to his success at full-back, helping him get up and down the pitch comfortably while his days in attacking midfield mean he's well used to picking out a man when he gets into the final third.

Jeremy Doku is third, setting up his team-mates nine times while Kevin De Bruyne (eight) and Ilkay Gundogan (six) complete the top five.

Passes

Pep Guardiola's team remain the pass kings of the Premier League, completing 22,973 in league football alone. That's 2,864 more than anyone else.

As you'd expect, most of those have been completed by defenders and deeper midfielders looking to spread the play and recycle possession.

Josko Gvardiol is top with 3,189 with Ruben Dias not far behind on 3,064.

Manuel Akanji (2,445), Ilkay Gundogan (2,270) and Mateo Kovacic (2,266) round out the top five.

Defending

It's again Gvardiol who leads the two key metrics off the ball, with the Croatian winning more tackles and completing more clearances than anyone else.

He's won 51 tackles, five more than Bernardo Silva. Mateo Kovacic (45), Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis (33) have done the next most.

In terms of clearances, Gvardiol's 148 is significantly more than Ruben Dias in second with 100.

Akanji (77) and Lewis (51) are then followed by Bernardo and Nunes on 41 each.

Clean sheets

As for the goalkeepers, Ederson has kept 12 clean sheets in 37 games across all competitions.

That includes 10 in the Premier League from just 26 matches, which left him just three behind the joint Golden Glove winners David Raya and Matz Sels who both played all 38 games.

Stefan Ortega played 21 times across all competitions, keeping six clean sheets.
