This week will mark the introduction of this season’s Spanish Super Cup, a competition that has garnered quite a lot of attention and prestige, especially following a rebranding that has seen the tournament being played in Saudi Arabia in recent years.
Thanks to the remodelling, the Spanish Super Cup has generated more revenue, which has ultimately led to more profits for clubs participating in the competition.
As reported by Diario AS, the economic distribution of the 2025 Spanish Super Cup mirrors previous years, where both sporting merit and the prestige of the clubs dictate the financial rewards.
Saudi Arabia pays the Spanish Football Federation €40 million, half of which goes directly into the federation’s coffers.
The remaining €20 million is then allocated among the four teams. Real Madrid, alongside Barcelona, are set to receive around €6 million just for their participation in the tournament.

If Real Madrid advances to the final, they would earn an additional €1 million. Should they clinch the title, the prize money would increase by another €2 million, summing up to a potential €9 million from this event.
This economic model was established since the Super Cup’s move to Saudi Arabia, where television rights and audience metrics play a crucial role in determining payouts.
Even if they don’t make it to the final, Real Madrid and Barcelona base earnings from the Super Cup are notably high, even if they do not reach the finals.
That being said, the two other clubs in Mallorca and Athletic Club could come very close to attaining the same figure, if they manage to win the title.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid will be geared up for their opening game at the Super Cup as they take on Mallorca in the semifinal on Thursday.
