Build-up to tonight’s Nations League clash has been overshadowed by Mary Earps’ retirement
England continue their preparations for this summer’s Women’s European Championship with a Nations League showdown against Portugal tonight.
When the two nations met on matchday one back in February, it was a late equaliser from Kika Nazareth that denied Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses all three points after taking the lead through Arsenal’s Alessia Russo.
After losing to Belgium last time out, England go into their penultimate fixture of the group knowing a win guarantees they will avoid relegation and keep them in the hunt for a semi-final place.
That said, the build up to tonight’s game at Wembley Stadium has been somewhat overshadowed by Mary Earps announcing her retirement from international football, a decision that has left Wiegman "really disappointed”.
Still, Wiegman must ensure her players are focused on the task at hand as it’s vital to build momentum ahead of defending their European crown later this summer.
TV channel: The game will be broadcast on ITV. Coverage starts at 7pm BST on ITV4 which is free-to-air in the UK ahead of a 7.45pm kick-off.
Live stream: ITVX, which is free with a subscription, will offer a live stream.
