Dean Huijsen is prioritising a transfer to Real Madrid after direct contact between the Bournemouth defender and the Spanish side.

Huijsen is a player in demand after an excellent debut season in the Premier League. The 20-year-old has impressed in Andoni Iraola’s side and earned an international debut for Spain during March’s international break. No u-21 player in Europe’s top five leagues has made more clearances than Huijsen this season.

Several Premier League teams are chasing a deal for the centre-back, who has a release clause of £50m in his contract. Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are all keen on Huijsen, though the player’s priority remains a move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants have put a centre-back signing on their wish list for the summer, though plans are yet to be finalised amid a change of manager. Carlo Ancelotti will leave at the end of the season, with Xabi Alonso having agreed a deal to take charge at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid interested in three Premier League centre-backs

Real Madrid have also been credited with interest in Arsenal’s William Saliba and Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, though a deal for Huijsen appears more straightforward.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Real Madrid are informed on the conditions of a deal to sign Huijsen. His release clause can be paid over three instalments.

Los Blancos have also made contact with the player’s camp, who have been clear on their preference for a move to the Spanish capital, despite notable Premier League interest.
