‘I’d be hammering him’: One Red has been chastised for ‘unacceptable’ decision, his teammate ‘went crazy’

Manchester United are yet to find a breakthrough in the first half an hour against Real Sociedad.
With how they’ve played thus far, you’d struggle to see where exactly the goal will come.
Diogo Dalot has been chastised by supporters and pundits for his ineffective decision-making early in the first half; the defender found himself in a useful position on the right flank to play in the struggling Rasmus Hojlund, who’d made a run into the area and kept his line well before Dalot opted against dispatching a cross into the box.
Reacting to the phase of play on TNT Sports’ commentary, Robbie Savage said: “That’s unacceptable. If I were his manager, I’d be hammering him.”
It certainly didn’t go unnoticed by Ruben Amorim, either, as Sky Sports’ live commentary reported: “Amorim’s just made a shrug of disbelief with Dalot there – he was in the perfect position to cross it for Hojlund but pondered for too long and the chance was gone.
“This is what Amorim means by United getting in good situations but not just making the right decisions for their forward players.
“A big reason why Hojlund has gone 18 games without a goal, [Alejandro] Garnacho 21 games and [Joshua] Zirkzee just the one goal in the last two months.”
Hojlund was also left enraged by the full-back ignoring his run, as Laurie Whitwell added: “Hojlund went crazy at Dalot for failing to pass to him when there was an opportunity in that attack. Rightly so. Too often, Dalot checks back rather than cross first-time. Hojlund also overlooked for a pass by Garnacho for his shot.”
Taking a lead back to Old Trafford for the second leg next week would be ideal for Amorim and his men to ease the pressure on their home tie.
