John Obi Mikel has launched an expletive ridden rant on Chelsea’s form in December with the Blues now winless in their last three games.

Chelsea have made a brilliant start to the season under Enzo Maresca and currently sit fourth and on course to qualify for the Champions League.

However, having been on a six game unbeaten run in the league with five wins and a draw, the Blues have now picked up just one point from the last nine available.

Mikel on Chelsea’s December form

Chelsea have played some of the best football in the league this season, but they have now hit their first dip in form of the campaign.

It might only be three games, but worryingly for the Blues their attack, which has been heavily praised has only managed one goal in the last three games, whilst their defensive deficiencies are still evident.

Maresca himself admitted he expected a moment like this to come in the season, and it’s true all teams will go through a dip in form, but it’s now up to him to find the solutions ahead of a difficult trip to Crystal Palace.

Before this three game run, Chelsea found themselves in the title conversation, which Maresca consistently played down and it was clear he was right in what he was saying.

Whilst it’s only three games there’s a danger Chelsea could be sucked into a battle for the top four, which didn’t look likely a few weeks back.

Mikel, who knows what it takes to win titles with the Blues didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts on the club’s December form.

“Maresca says we played 9 games, a couple were Conference League,” he told his Obi One Podcast.

It’s not a question of fatigue. I come back to it, players think December is a f*****g holiday, it’s not a f*****g holiday, it’s time to pick up points because these are going to matter come the end of the season, if you think it’s time to have Turkey, wine, no.

“It’s been like a holiday period for us this December, we were never like that.”

Chelsea head to Selhurst Park on Saturday looking for a first win in three games and to get their season back on track.
