Ex-Barcelona star İlkay Gündoğan has taken to social media, to send a message of congratulations to his one-time teammates.
This, of course, comes fresh off Barcelona securing for themselves the first piece of major silverware of the Spanish campaign.
Hansi Flick’s troops locked horns with arch rivals Real Madrid in Jeddah on Sunday night, with the title of the Supercopa de España on the line.
And, despite falling into an early one-goal hole, the Blaugrana ultimately ran riot, to the tune of a 5-2 rout of their Clásico rivals.
Messages of congratulations have since come flooding in for Barcelona, amid ongoing celebrations stretching back to Catalunya’s capital.
And, as alluded to above, amongst those to have made clear his delight with the Supercopa outcome was none other than İlkay Gündoğan.
Midfielder Gündoğan of course brought a close to his short-lived Barca stint over the summer, linking back up with Manchester City on a free transfer.
Still a close follower of all things Blaugrana, though, the German international took to his official ‘X’ account late yesterday evening, to write:
‘Congrats FC Barcelona! Amazing game and performance!’
