Injuries are going to make it very tough for Simone Inzaghi to rotate Inter Milan’s squad as he’d have liked over the coming matches.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, highlight the situation in midfield in particular as a headache for the Nerazzurri coach.

Yesterday’s Serie A clash with Roma was the first of seven in the space of just three weeks for Inter.

With five league outings and two in the Champions League, the fixtures are packed in tightly between the October and November international breaks for Inter.

Therefore, it has always looked likely that Inter coach Inzaghi would chop and change his team.

The Nerazzurri coach can hardly complain of a lack of squad depth. And so far this season he has shown a real willingness to make changes to give key players needed rest.

Injuries Disrupt Inzaghi Squad Rotation Plans At Inter

Inter are already back in action in just a couple of days. They face Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday.

It always seemed clear that Inzaghi would be making some changes for that match.

But injuries will restrict the changes that the Inter coach is able to make.

In defense, Francesco Acerbi will likely be out after picking up an injury against Roma yesterday.

Therefore, there could be more pressure on players like Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij.

But it’s in midfield where the problems are truly apparent.

Inter were missing both Kristjan Asllani and Piotr Zielinski going into yesterday’s match against Roma. And it didn’t take long before they also lost Hakan Calhanoglu.

After the match, Inzaghi admitted that he would have started Asllani over Calhanoglu had the Albanian been available – as Calhanoglu was not in ideal condition.

But already, one injury essentially forced another.

And now, going into Inter’s match against Young Boys in the Champions League, Inzaghi will certainly be without Calhanoglu. Then, Zielisnki and Asllani’s availability are in doubt.

And even looking forward to the matches ahead, little is certain.

If Inzaghi had a plan on how to evenly rotate his midfielders over the next few matches, injuries have almost certainly forced him to completely rethink it.
