Inter Milan are clinging tightly to the goals of Lautaro Martinez as they wait nervously for Marcus Thuram to return against Barcelona.

Inter Milan have been without Marcus Thuram for the past couple matches.

And the Frenchman’s absence through injury has proved to have a big impact on the team.

The Nerazzurri have gone two matches without scoring, in losses to AC Milan and Bologna.

The lack of cutting edge in the final third was quite evident from Inter. And particularly in the penalty area.

The likes of Joaquin Correa and Mehdi Taremi put in profoundly uninspiring displays. Meanwhile, Marko Arnautovic is still dealing with some physical issues.

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez is certainly also deserving of criticism for his culpability in the team’s recent losses.

The Argentine has looked blunt in front of goal by his own standards.

Nevertheless, it is certainly Martinez who Inter will look to to inspire them to victory against Roma.

The 28-year-old has been in blazing form for much of 2025. Both in terms of his goals and his overall performances.

Martinez very much showed that against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. He capped off two fine displays with decisive goals.

Therefore, Inter believe that Martinez can be the driving force against Roma.

And then, the Nerazzurri will be crossing their fingers that Thuram can return against Barcelona in the Champions League.

At the moment, the Frenchman’s fitness is something of a question mark. And if he is unable to start, Inter will once again rely on the prolific and determined Martinez.
