Inter Milan Coach Manages Brutal Fixture List With ‘Scientific’ Squad Rotation

Simone Inzaghi is using “scientific” squad rotation to guide the Inter Milan squad through a particularly brutal part of the fixture list.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan are in the midst of a particularly busy part of their season.
The Nerazzurri are fighting on three fronts. There is the usual Serie A schedule, with a tough title race against Napoli and Atalanta in full swing.
Then, there is the Coppa Italia. Inter beat Lazio in the quarterfinals of that competition on Tuesday.
And before the March international break, Inter will take on Feyenoord in a two-legged Champions League round of sixteen tie.
Naturally, one of the big risks of this intense fixture list would be burning out squad members.
That would particularly be the case for key starters.

But Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has exercised great care in how he’s rotated his squad.
Naturally, some players have still taken on a huge workload. These have included Lautaro Martinez, Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolo Barella, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Then, injuries can always throw a money wrench in squad rotation plans.
However, 2025 has just about managed it.
And nowhere has this been more evidence than in defense.
There have been some major injury blows in Inter’s back three. Both Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi were out for extended periods with hamstring injuries.
But Inzaghi’s usage of Yann Bisseck and Stefan de Vrij ensured that the level of Inter’s starting eleven never dropped off.
