Midfielder Davide Frattesi hopes that he can keep popping up with big goals for Inter Milan after being decisive against Empoli.

The 25-year-old gave his thoughts to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after yesterday evening’s 3-0 Serie A victory.

Frattesi got the nod in Inter’s starting eleven yesterday evening.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi decided to go with the same midfield setup he had used in the Champions League against Young Boys and against Roma after Hakan Calhanoglu came off injured.

That meant that Nicolo Barella played in the holding midfield role. And Davide Frattesi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan lined up alongside him in the trio.

This was yet another big opportunity for Frattesi, who hasn’t always found playing time from the start easy to come by at Inter.

And the former Sassuolo midfielder grabbed his chance with both hands.

If there is one quality that has always marked Frattesi out it is is clinical eye for goal from midfield.

And that proved to be the case yesterday, certainly.

Davide Frattesi: “Hope To Keep Scoring Decisive Goals For Inter Milan”

Of his big goals, Frattesi said that “I have to keep scoring them.”

“And it’s all the more important if we can win,” the 25-year-old said.

Meanwhile, Frattesi admitted that “I have to improve in my management of the ball.”

“Because in my opinion I still have margins to improve in that.”

“I will work on that,” Frattesi said. “Even if it will never become my most important characteristic.”

“But I want to bring it up to the level of my other qualities. I’ll keep working on it.”

And of his “striker’s movement” for Inter’s second goal, Frattesi said that “I think it’s more of a midfielder moment.”

“That is, arriving from deep to receive a layoff from the striker.”

“Lauti did very well to find me, and then it all came quite naturally,” Frattesi said.

“These are the things we try to do,” the Inter midfielder said. “We almost know how to do it from memory, so it’s not the first time I’ve found myself in that position.”

“In training during the week, we work on that. So I find it to be more a midfielder’s movement than a striker’s.”
