Inter and Bayern shared the spoils in a pulsating 2-2 draw in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Indeed, Vincent Kompany’s side took the lead early in the second half through Harry Kane.

However, the Nerazzurri pulled off a lightning-fast turnaround.

Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard inspired the comeback, putting clear daylight between the sides.

Yet, a two-goal cushion in the aggregate score didn’t deter the Bavarians from seeking a late fightback.

When Eric Dier scored a sensational header, it seemed like Bayern could take the tie to extra time.

But Inter fended off the runaway Bundesliga leaders’ siege in the final ten minutes to secure a semi-final berth.

Despite failing to score, Thuram’s role in Inter’s extraordinary success was vital.

Bayern’s relentless attacks down the final stretch forced Inter to defend with all ten outfield players.

Furthermore, Yann Sommer had to make a fantastic diving save in the final second to thwart Thomas Muller.

However, Inter pulled it through, putting in an incredible team effort to set up a semi-final date against Barcelona.

“I’m super happy, we played like a great team. It was tough, but we did it,” Thuram said after the game.

Then, he praised Lautaro’s leadership skills and another standout performance at Europe’s top table.

“He played like a true captain, as he always does. In the end, we were all pretty much dead.

“Argentinian grit, la garra,” he added.

Finally, Thuram embraced the praise for helping Lautaro torment Bayern’s center-backs.

“Thank you so much… When Luca Toni talks, I think of that commercial with Franck Ribery…” he added, laughing.
