Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta feels that the gap between the Nerazzurri and AC Milan is irrelevant in the derby.
The Nerazzurri President spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. He stressed that it will be an unpredictable match regardless of form.
The Milan derby has always been a fixture with a reputation for going against the form table.
The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri usually end up playing out a dramatic match. And it is not always the team who are favourites on paper who end up winning.
That was certainly the case in the two meetings between the city rivals this season.
Over the course of the season so far, Inter have been in by far the better form. Milan, by contrast, have had an erratic season with as many low points as positive moments.
But the Rossoneri handed Inter their only defeat so far this season in Serie A. And they also managed to beat the Nerazzurri in the Supercoppa Italiana final – despite having been 2-0 down.
Inter President Beppe Marotta emphasized that “the derby has a flavour that’s different from any other matches.”
“The table doesn’t count for anything in this context.”

“The sixteen-point gap is just on paper,” said the Inter President.
“However, we want to redeem ourselves for the losses,” Marotta went on. “And take home the three points.”
“The team has looked very focused to me. And the coach equally so.
“We’re aware that everyone has an important role to play.”
Meanwhile, Marotta said that “Calhanoglu is fine on a physical level.”
“But he just lacks a bit of condition after six matches out. But he always remains a key player for us.”
Meanwhile, Marotta spoke to DAZN, via FCInterNews. He addressed Inter’s transfer business.
Tajon Buchanan and Tomas Palacios left on loan. They joined Villarreal and Monza respectively.
Meanwhile, yesterday Inter confirmed the arrival of Nicola Zalewski on loan from Roma.
Inter President Marotta said that “We took care to seize opportunities in positions we needed, with Buchanan and Palacios going out on loan.”
“Our hope is that they can get the playing time they need,” he went on.
“Pavard is a player who needs no introduction,” Marotta added. “And then Zalewski is a more than respectable backup.”
“But I’d like to underline the return of Calhanoglu. He hasn’t played in six matches, but I’m sure he’ll make his presence felt positively.”
