Beppe Marotta says that losing 3-0 to Fiorentina is an “extra motivation” for Inter Milan, and Inter were “never in talks” to sign Joao Felix.

The Nerazzurri President spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of this evening’s rematch against La Viola.

Inter take on Fiorentina for the second time in less than a week this evening.

And it presents the Nerazzurri with a unique opportunity to react to what was by all measures their worst loss of the season.

Inter Milan did not only lose to Fiorentina on Thursday evening. They were routed, suffering their first loss by a margin of three goals in almost six years.

Moreover, the scoreline was no fluke. Inter’s performance was well off the standard, and in stark contrast to the hungry, well-organized display by La Viola.

Therefore, facing the same opposition for the second time in just a few days has a lot of pressure.

But Inter will certainly have a great desire to respond to that pressure and reassert themselves after Thursday’s humiliation.

Marotta: “Fiorentina Loss Extra Motivation For Inter, Never In Talks For Joao Felix”

Inter President Beppe Marotta gave his thoughts ahead of this evening’s match. “When we play we have to win,” he declared. “Regardless of the opposition.”

“We’ve felt a bit bitter in the last few days about the way we loss,” Marotta admitted.

“But I think it’s given us extra motivation for tonight.”

Meanwhile, Marotta also denied claims by Chelsea-owned AC Milan forward Joao Felix that Inter had shown an interest in signing him.

“We absolutely have not been in any negotiations for him,” said the Inter President.

“We evaluated players who could leave their clubs. But we decided to stick with the squad we have, and so we didn’t delve any further into our interest, with all due respect to the player.”

Meanwhile, Marotta also defended Inter’s attacking players. “Looking at the stats, we have the best attack in the league,” he said.

“A match like Thursday’s is very rare.”

“The team’s problem is not scoring goals,” said the Nerazzurri President. “There’s not a huge problem, but let’s say that in certain moments we need to stay focused to bring home results.”
