Inter Milan are waiting with baited breath on the fitness of defender Alessandro Bastoni ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Bayern Munich.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Italian international will undergo medical tests today.

Alessandro Bastoni started for Inter Milan in yesterday’s Serie A clash with Parma.

The 25-year-old did see out the entire first half of the match.

However, Bastoni had to come off the pitch at halftime.

The Italian did manage to return to the bench to watch the match with his teammates. However, this was with an ice pack applied to his left knee.

Naturally, that raised the alarm as far as Bastoni’s fitness.

After the match, Inter Milan assistant coach Massimiliano Farris downplayed fears around Bastoni’s fitness.

The assistant coach suggested that it was just a minor problem. The substitution was purely precautionary.

However, the Corriere note, it had also been the case that when Denzel Dumfries had come off as a substitute against Atalanta before the international break, it had seemed like nothing more than a precaution.,

And the Dutchman is still not back from a thigh problem of his own.

That is certainly a worrying thought for Inter.

And the timeline is not exactly on Bastoni’s side if he does have a problem.

Inter take on Bayern Munich in the first leg of a Champions League quarterfinal tie in just a couple days.

And if Bastoni has an injury, he will hardly recover for that match.

Therefore, tests today with Inter’s medical staff could be all important in view of the Bayern match.
