Perennial Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly set their sights on in-form Inter center-forward Marcus Thuram. According to Calciomercato, the France international’s substantial €80 million release clause has not deterred Les Parisiens from contemplating an offer for Simone Inzaghi’s trusted striker.

Thuram enjoyed a dream maiden season in Serie A last term, forging a formidable attacking partnership with Lautaro Martinez, which was the backbone of Inter’s title-winning campaign. After helping Inter to their 20th Scudetto, the Frenchman has demonstrated unwavering ambition to soak up the limelight as the best player in the squad.

He bagged his first Serie A hat-trick to inspire Inter to a 3-2 home win against Torino on the brink of October’s international break, taking his league tally to seven goals this season. Thuram and Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui are the joint-top scorers after seven rounds, suggesting the 27-year-old could take the Capocannoniere award from Martinez’s hands.

Unfortunately for Inter, it could be his parting gift unless they can fend off PSG’s interest in their sought-after star. Yet to find a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, Luis Enrique’s men are frantically scouring the market for a top-class forward. Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia topped their wishlist during the summer.

However, after being rebuffed by the Partenopei, the French heavyweights plot a raid on Inter. Thuram would reportedly not oppose the prospect of returning to his homeland. As his contract runs out in 2028, PSG would have to splash out a small fortune to lure him away from Giuseppe Meazza next summer.
