It was business as usual this evening for Serie A giants Inter after a resounding 4-0 win over Lecce at Stadio Via del mare.

Simone Inzaghi's men did not need long to jump to an early 1-0 lead thanks to Davide Frattesi after Marcus Thuram danced his way into the area before setting up the Italian to volley into an empty net.

Lautaro Martínez added to his streak of stunning strikes across the last week of action with another peach of a hit to make it 2-0 five minutes before the interval. The Argentine did well to create space for himself in the final third before unleashing a bending effort from just inside the area past Lecce shot-stopper Wladimiro Falcone.

Dutch international wing-back Denzel Dumfries put Inzaghi’s troop out of sight after the restart when he struck in the 57th minute before Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi netted from the penalty spot to make it a 4-0 rout four minutes later after Frattest was brought down in the area.

That result saw Inzaghi reach 200 wins across his managerial career while Inter closed the gap to Napoli to just three points in the race for the Scudetto.

Marco Giampaolo's Salentini outfit remains just one point clear of the bottom three as their future in the Italian top flight remains in doubt.

Up next for Inter is a date with bitter rivals Milan in another edition of the Derby della Madonnina, while Lecce travels to fellow relegation candidate Parma.
